Job Description

Strength and Performance Coach Prepare for Performance is seeking a dependable, motivated, and personable Peronal trainer and Performance Coach to join our team in Rockville, Maryland. This position involves coaching both youth athletes and adults in a small-group training environment. The selected coach will typically spend a couple of days each week working with athletes and a couple of days working with adults. This is a part-time position that can expand into a full-time, in-person position, offering approximately 12 to 15 hours per week. The schedule will fall between Monday and Saturday and may rotate based on coaching needs, program schedules, and staff availability. Responsibilities Lead small-group strength and performance training sessions using Prepare for Performance's established programming and coaching system. Coach youth, high school, and collegiate athletes working to improve their speed, strength, explosiveness, coordination, and overall athleticism. Coach adults working to build strength, improve their health, stay active, and develop consistent training habits. Demonstrate exercises and provide clear, practical coaching instructions. Modify exercises based on each member's age, experience, ability, and training needs. Monitor technique, effort, safety, and participation throughout each session. Provide encouragement, accountability, and constructive feedback. Build positive relationships with athletes, adult members, parents, and other members of the coaching team. Collaborate with the Head Coach and other staff members to provide a consistent, high-quality training experience. Assist with equipment setup, breakdown, cleaning, and general facility organization. Complete attendance records, session notes, testing information, and other required documentation. Participate in staff meetings, coach development sessions, and continuing education opportunities. Qualifications A relevant fitness, personal training, or strength and conditioning certification, such as NSCA, NASM, ACE, ACSM, or an equivalent credential. One to two years of coaching or personal training experience preferred. Experience coaching youth athletes, adults, or in small-group training sessions is preferred. A working understanding of strength training, athletic development, exercise technique, and movement modification. Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills. Ability to confidently manage and coach small groups. Comfortable working with different ages, experience levels, personalities, and physical abilities. Dependable, punctual, organized, and able to follow an established training system. Willingness to receive feedback and continue developing as a coach. A genuine interest in helping athletes and adults make measurable progress. CPR and First Aid certification preferred, or willingness to obtain certification before beginning the position. Schedule Approximately 12 to 15 hours per week The schedule will fall between Monday and Saturday A couple of days each week will involve coaching athletes A couple of days each week will involve coaching adults Some Saturday availability is required Saturday shifts will rotate among members of the coaching team Weekly hours and days may vary based on the training schedule and business needs Afternoon, evening, and Saturday availability is preferred Compensation $22.00 to $25.00 per hour, based on experience, qualifications, and coaching ability. Pay:
$22.00 - $25.00 per hour
