The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of cheerleading techniques, and a commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive environment for student-athletes. This seasonal position requires effective communication, organizational skills, and the ability to inspire and motivate young athletes to reach their full potential.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop and implement a comprehensive training program for the junior varsity cheerleading squad, focusing on skill development, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Plan and conduct regular practices, ensuring a safe and positive environment for all participants. Teach and refine cheerleading techniques, including stunts, jumps, tumbling, and choreography. Prepare the team for competitions, including routine development, practice schedules, and competition logistics. Collaborate with the varsity coach to align training goals and ensure continuity within the cheer program. Monitor the academic performance and well-being of team members, promoting a balance between athletics and academics. Communicate effectively with athletes, parents, and school administration regarding team expectations, schedules, and events. Attend all practices, competitions, and team meetings as required. Foster a spirit of teamwork, respect, and sportsmanship among team members. Uphold and enforce all school and district policies related to athletics and student conduct.
REQUIREMENTS
Previous experience in competitive cheerleading, coaching, or a related field is preferred. Strong knowledge of cheerleading techniques, safety standards, and competition rules. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire young athletes. Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to accommodate practice and competition schedules. Current CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain prior to the start of the season). Must pass a background check in accordance with school district policies. A commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive team culture that values diversity and encourages participation from all students. High school diploma or equivalent; further education in sports management, physical education, or a related field is a plus.
