WMAA is an innovative, academically rigorous charter high school with a focus on hands-on aviation and STEM education. Through implementation of our mission, vision, and values , WMAA provides a unique educational opportunity for students to focus on high-growth employment fields during their high school education. WMAA places intense emphasis on real-life, hands-on projects that incorporate multidisciplinary learning, design thinking, and many more business-level skill sets. Our students enjoy opportunities for business internships, mentorships and job shadows that help them explore career opportunities while still in high school. Position Overview We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic coach to lead and support a varsity girls basketball program. The ideal candidate will foster a positive, competitive, and respectful team culture while helping student-athletes develop their skills, confidence, and understanding of the game. Responsibilities Plan, organize, and lead all practices, games, and team activities. Develop and implement strategies, drills, and training plans that support player growth and team performance. Teach fundamental and advanced basketball skills, game concepts, and sportsmanship. Create a team culture that emphasizes accountability, discipline, teamwork, and respect. Evaluate player development and provide constructive feedback to support improvement. Collaborate with school staff, athletic administration, and families as appropriate. Ensure adherence to school, league, and athletic association rules and policies. Supervise student-athletes during practices, competitions, travel, and related team events. Promote academic responsibility, character development, and healthy participation in athletics. Maintain equipment, uniforms, and program resources in an organized manner. Qualifications Previous coaching experience in basketball, preferably at the high school or competitive youth level. Strong knowledge of basketball fundamentals, game strategy, and player development. Ability to motivate and mentor student-athletes in a positive and professional manner. Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills. Commitment to fostering an inclusive, supportive, and respectful team environment. Ability to work collaboratively with school personnel, athletes, and families. Understanding of safety practices and supervision responsibilities in an athletic setting. Preferred Qualifications Experience coaching varsity-level basketball. Familiarity with strength and conditioning principles related to basketball. Experience supporting student-athletes in both athletic and academic development. CPR, First Aid, or related coaching certifications, if required by the organization.
