A Coach works with individual athletes or with sports teams to develop skills and improve teamwork and competitive performance. Runs practice sessions and physical conditioning programs; assesses the strengths and weaknesses of players; plans strategies for games; motivates and encourage players and teaches good sportsmanship.

Saturdays Responsibilities:
Attends athletic department meetings when scheduled. Submits an annual inventory of athletic uniforms and equipment that is used by his/her team. Maintains professional competency by attending clinics. Keeps the Athletic Director informed of any or all problems, before, during, or after all sporting events. Encourages athletes to excel in academic work. Submits an End of the Season Checklist in a timely manner. Issues, cleans, stores, cares and returns all athletic equipment. Oversees the safety conditions of the area when team members are practicing. Enforces disciplined behavior, code of fair play, and establishes standards. Reports all incidents to the Athletic Director. Establishes an effective relationship with players, parents, and administrators. Attends practices, games, and meetings punctually. Uses professional conduct, language, and decorum with players, opponents, officials, and fans. Works with the athletic director to maintain player eligibility information. Teaches individual participants in the skills necessary for the highest possible achievement in the sport involved. Each practice session is planned out ahead of time. Submits necessary rosters, physical forms, eligibility list forms, and training rule forms signed by the parents. Is a positive role model. Adheres to those rules and regulations as detailed by the MHSAA and Board of Education policies and regulations. Maintains team attendance records and medical emergency cards. Works to promote increased participation to improve methods, techniques, strength and endurance both in and out of season. Submits written criteria for "cutting" athletes at tryouts. Displays self-control and maintains a positive profile with officials. Provides supervision of locker room and training room.
