Job Description
Hours/Time/Calendar/Pay:
Evening, weekend, and holiday hours during the athletic season, seasonal position, stipend and terms per collective bargaining agreement
Reports To:
Varsity Track Coach, Athletic Director, and Building Principal
Position Summary:
The Middle School Track Coach is responsible for organizing, leading, and supervising an educational track team that promotes student-athlete development, sportsmanship, teamwork, and academic success. The coach provides instruction in track skills and strategies while fostering a positive, safe, and inclusive environment consistent with school and district values.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous coaching and/or playing experience in track Knowledge of high/middle school athletic rules and regulations
Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
Ability to work effectively with students, parents, and school personnel
CPR, First Aid, and concussion awareness training
Background check clearance
Job Responsibilities:
- Plan, organize, and conduct practices that develop individual skills, team concepts, and physical conditioning
- Coach and supervise student-athletes during practices, meets, and related activities
- Teach and model sportsmanship, ethical conduct, teamwork, and respect for opponents and officials
- Promote academic achievement and monitor student-athlete eligibility and attendance
- Communicate effectively with student-athletes, parents/guardians, administrators, and athletic staff
- Supervise locker rooms, travel, and off-campus activities
- Participate in coaches' meetings, rules clinics, and required professional development
- Support and comply with district policies, athletic handbook provisions, and state athletic association regulations
