Job Description

We are seeking Independent Living Skills Coaches to service clients within the St Paul, Downtown St Paul, Maplewood, Oakdale, and surrounding areas on a part-time and full-time basis. The driving radius for our Independent Living Skills Coaches is limited to 25- 30 minutes of your home to mitigate excessive traveling. Additionally, we offer our ILS Coaches gas mileage reimbursement and paid driving time. ILS Coaches typically meet with clients between the hours of 8am to 7pm. Full time schedules are either 9-5 or 10-6. -- late evenings and overnight hours are not available for staffing. This area offers room for career growth as we are looking to train and promote ILS Coaches from within to senior leadership roles. Please note that this is not a group home setting, our staff will be meeting with clients in their own residences. This role is similar to an IHS (In home support) or ILS (Independent Living Skills) position.
Responsibilities of Independent Living Skills Coaches:
ILS Coaches do NOT perform personal cares (no bathing, toileting, med passing, cleaning, etc) Meet with clients, one on one, in their homes on a regularly scheduled basis - gas mileage reimbursement provided with paid driving time Transporting clients as needed throughout the community for appointments and activities - gas mileage reimbursement provided with paid driving time Support clients through creative, thoughtful, problem-solving Understand and work to follow through with support plan goals Assist individuals in planning and structuring time together Maintain timely completion of documentation of activities and progress as directed by supervisor Maintain clear and professional communication with clients, Field Coordinators, and members of the support team Qualifications High School diploma or equivalent 2+ years of customer service experience 1+ year(s) in the human service experience Reliable car that is well maintained and suitable for client transportation Valid driver's license and valid car insurance Ability to pass a criminal background check Ability to pass and maintain required training for DHS compliance such as CPR/First aid and HIPAA Essential Functions Occasionally move up to 20lbs for various client needs. Ability to remain in a stationary position for up to 75% of the session Frequently move within and about the clients' residence and/or community, including ascending/descending stairs or ladders. Have and maintain a valid driver's license Frequently, and throughout the session, verbally communicate with clients Ability to view clients in-person throughout sessions Our Independent Living Skills Coaches work one on one with a client, in their own homes and in the community, to focus on goals that they have set for themselves, build skills that empower them, and help them to engage and integrate with their community while remaining independent. Some of the ILS Coach tasks include: Scheduling and attending medical appointments Assisting with day-to-day tasks i.e grocery shopping and running errands etc. Finance management i.e. helping them navigate technology to pay bills etc. Participating in a fun activity or hobby Providing genuine companionship and reliable support We're looking for an ILS Coach who shares our

Pay:
$20.00 - $22.00 per hour Expected hours: 20 - 40 per week

What interested you the most about this position? We are an outside service that meets with clients in whatever residency they're in such as their own house, an apartment, a group home, or an assisted-living facility. Do you feel comfortable working with clients in their own homes and out in the community in a 1 on 1 setting? If any, what is some personal and/or professional experience that you have in this field? Most of our clients have a pet in the home. You must be comfortable working in an environment with animals, specifically dogs. Are you comfortable working in an environment with dogs present? We try to be competitive in this market with where we start our ILS Coaches at and look to start around the $20 an hour range. We have plenty of growth opportunities, and career pathways available on top of that as well. Was that starting range something that you were comfortable with? Or what is your desired pay range? Our part time staff typically work between 20-29 hours, whereas our full time staff work 30-40 hours. How many hours were you looking for, and what was your desired availability?
