QUALIFICATIONS
Valid Missouri teacher or substitute certificate issued through DESE Preferred previous coaching experience in assigned sport Possession of the knowledge, skills, abilities, and physical attributes necessary to perform the essential functions of the position. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate or acceptable.
REPORTS TO
The athletic director who provides overall objectives and final evaluations in conjunction with the building administrator.
JOB GOAL
To help each participating student achieve a high level of skill, an appreciation for the values of discipline and sportsmanship, and an increased level of self-esteem.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and abilities required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions. Assists in the coaching of individual participants in the skills necessary for excellent achievement in the sport involved. Assists in planning and scheduling a regular program of practice in season. Works closely with the athletic director and Head Coach in scheduling interscholastic contests. Recommends purchase of equipment, supplies, and uniforms, as appropriate. Maintains necessary attendance forms, insurance records, and similar paperwork. Oversees the safety conditions of the facility or area in which assigned sport is conducted at all times that students are present. Establishes performance criteria for eligibility in interscholastic competition in the coach's sport. Enforces discipline and sportsmanlike behavior at all times, and establishes and oversees penalties for breach of such standards by individual students. Assists in organizing and supervising a total sports program. Demonstrates effective human relations and communication skills. Complies with all district rules, regulations, and policies. Regular and consistent attendance is an essential function of this position. Other duties as required or assigned.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Salary and work calendar to be established by the Board.
EVALUATION
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on evaluations utilizing the Performance Based Support Staff Evaluation process.
