Job Description
Join the Team. At KC Current, everything we do is in service of our fans, partners, community, and players. Our employees are stewards of that responsibility, working together to elevate the game and deepen our connection to Kansas City and beyond. With a best-in-class training facility and one of the first stadiums built specifically for a women's sports team, KC Current is writing the next chapter with world-class talent and ambition. Our employees are a team of competitive, passionate, and driven people who are dedicated to this sport, this team, and this community. We aim high, embrace challenges, and take action to get it done. We believe great things happen when we are united. We are seeking individuals who want to march on this mission with us as the world's eyes are watching. We are making history in Kansas City and desire like-minded, high energy, driven individuals to join us on our journey. Who are we hiring? The Performance Department at the Kansas City Current exists to build an environment where athletes thrive. It brings together specialists from across health and performance disciplines who work as one group around holistic player care. We are currently hiring a Performance Coach for Kansas City Current II (KCC II). The KCC II Performance Coach sits at the center of the developmental pathway, responsible for the ongoing physical development of every KCC II player and for maximizing their capacity to perform physically at the first team level. The role manages the design, delivery, and oversight of sports performance and sports science programming, making sure players arrive physically prepared for both training and competition. Working within the wider Kansas City Current Performance Department, the KCC II Performance Coach will also partner with the First Team performance staff to keep training methodology, monitoring practice, and performance standards consistent across the club. What will you do? Own the physical development of every KCC II player, covering individual physical profiling, program design, and day-to-day delivery, as part of a multi-disciplinary health and performance group. Report on individual program outcomes at regular intervals across the training year and refine prescriptions based on what the results show. Build and manage the physical periodization of the annual training plan in close partnership with the KCC II technical staff. Track training load across daily, weekly, monthly, and seasonal timescales using current sport science technology, including but not limited to GPS, heart rate data, and wellness/readiness screening. Keep training methodology, player monitoring, rehabilitation progressions, and performance standards vertically aligned with the First Team and Academy. Support players moving between the First Team, KCC II, and the Academy, and monitor the load implications of those daily movements. Prepare players for training and matches through pre-training activation, injury risk reduction work, fueling, and recovery programming. Lead on-field warm-ups and cool-downs for all KCC II training sessions and matches. Contribute to return-to-play progressions alongside the medical staff. Coordinate nutrition, hydration, and supplementation guidance for the group. Maintain accurate performance records, testing data, and athlete monitoring reports. Help advance sports performance initiatives across the Kansas City Current player pathway. Represent the Kansas City Current and its affiliates professionally at all times. Travel with KCC II for away matches, training camps, and other team activities as required.
