Job Summary The Part Time Assistant Coach supports the Head Coach in all aspects of the athletic program, helping to develop student-athletes both on and off the field/court. This role focuses on teaching sport-specific skills, promoting academic success, fostering good sportsmanship, and contributing to a positive team culture while ensuring compliance with institutional and conference policies. Key Responsibilities Assist the Head Coach with planning and conducting practices, workouts, and competitions. Teach and develop individual and team skills, strategies, and fundamentals. Support the recruitment and evaluation of prospective student-athletes. Monitor student-athletes' academic progress and encourage academic success. Help organize team travel, equipment, uniforms, and game-day operations. Supervise student-athletes during practices, games, travel, and team activities. Promote sportsmanship, teamwork, leadership, and personal responsibility. Assist with scouting opponents and preparing game plans. Maintain compliance with college, conference, and governing body rules and regulations. Build positive relationships with student-athletes, staff, faculty, and the community. Perform additional duties as assigned by the Head Coach or Athletic Director. Management reserves the right to add, modify, change or rescind work assignments as needed. Qualifications Degree may be required Previous coaching or competitive playing experience in the sport. Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills. Ability to mentor and motivate diverse student-athletes. Knowledge of recruiting practices and collegiate athletic regulations. Valid driver's license and the ability to travel as needed. CPR, First Aid, and other required certifications preferred or obtainable upon hire. Preferred Skills Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building abilities. Strong time management and organizational skills. Commitment to student-athlete development, diversity, equity, and inclusion. Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by the athletic schedule. Physical Requirements Ability to demonstrate sport-specific techniques. Stand, walk, run, lift equipment (up to 50 pounds), and work outdoors or in athletic facilities for extended periods. Ability to travel with the team for competitions and recruiting. Employment will require a criminal background check at college expense. Preference is given to Missouri residents.
