Seasonal, Stipend Position Position Overview:
St. Labre Indian School is seeking a dedicated and passionate Middle School Head Volleyball Coach to lead and develop student-athletes in a positive, structured, and competitive environment. The coach will be responsible for the organization, supervision, and coaching of the middle school girls volleyball program, including A, B, and C squads. The position emphasizes teamwork, sportsmanship, and academic excellence, while embracing and respecting the rich cultural heritage of our Cheyenne and Crow students.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan, organize, and conduct practices and games for all middle school volleyball squads (A, B, and C). Teach fundamental volleyball skills and strategies appropriate to middle school athletes. Foster a positive team culture focused on respect, discipline, effort, and teamwork. Communicate regularly with players, parents, assistant coaches, and school administration. Supervise student-athletes during practices, games, and travel. Ensure the safety and well-being of all players. Maintain and inventory volleyball equipment and uniforms. Coordinate with the Athletic Director for scheduling, transportation, and facility use. Uphold St. Labre's mission and values, promoting academic success and character development. Provide leadership and mentorship to assistant coaches.
Qualifications:
Prior experience coaching or playing volleyball, preferably at the middle school or high school level. Understanding of and ability to teach the rules and fundamentals of volleyball. Ability to lead, motivate, and mentor student-athletes. Strong communication and organizational skills. CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain). Must pass a background check and meet all school employment requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working with Native American youth or in a culturally diverse setting. Knowledge of MHSA rules and middle school athletic league policies. MHSA coaching certification or ability to obtain prior to season start.
Stipend:
Competitive seasonal stipend.
