Required Qualifications Any combination of training, education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school. Successful experience playing/coaching high school or college flag football or tackle football. Holds a currently valid First Aid card with CPR (or ability to obtain certification within 1month). Holds a currently valid MHSA (Montana Association of Athletics)Coaching Certifications and Endorsements. Has completed all NFHS Courses. Must have a flexible schedule. Essential Job Duties Plans, organizes, and directs the entire girls' flag football program including practices and game-day strategies. Coaches participants in the specific skills necessary for flag football (e.g., flag pulling,route running, non-contact blocking). Must maintain competency in MHSA rules, regulations, and specific coaching techniques for flag football. Maintains discipline and sportsmanlike conduct of all participants and enforces the policies of the District uniformly. Responsible for the inventory, distribution, and collection of equipment, including flags, jerseys, and footballs. Teaches and promotes the importance of teamwork, strategy, and player safety. Understands the proper administrative line of command and refers all requests or grievances through proper channels. Serves as a mentor to each athlete to promote character traits of trustworthiness,respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and citizenship. Supervises assistant coaches (if applicable) and coordinates with the Athletic Director regarding scheduling and transportation. Knowledge Skills Abilities Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, MHSA handbook, and procedure manuals. Ability to follow both oral and written directions from the athletic director. Ability to write routine reports, game stats, and correspondence. Ability to effectively communicate, orally and in writing, with students, parents, staff, and the community. Ability to handle stressful situations and make quick decisions during competition. Ability to maintain confidentiality of employment and student matters. Ability to perform duties with an awareness of all District requirements and Board policies. Ability to effectively manage time and responsibilities.
Necessary Special Requirements:
Montana Driver's license or the ability to obtain license within three months of hire date. Position requires working flexible schedules, including evenings and Saturdays. Completion of NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching course upon hire. (Course cost is at employee's own expense) Completion of NFHS Concussion in Sports course. Completion of MHSA Rules Clinic for Flag Football prior to season beginning. Equipment Stopwatch, flags, footballs, cones, tackling/blocking pads, computer, score-keeping equipment or other equipment related to the sport/activity. Physical and Mental Demands and Work Hazards Constantly works around others and works with the public. Regularly works outside in various Montana autumn weather conditions. Outside exposure includes performing the duties in varying weather extremes (heat,wind, rain, or snow). Ability to meet deadlines with severe time constraints. The environment can be stressful due to the competitive nature of the work. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. Frequently required to stand, walk, and demonstrate athletic movements. Occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, or crouch. Continuously uses hand strength to grasp equipment. Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds (equipment bags, water coolers). Specific vision abilities required include distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception. Required to be able to hear conversations in loud and quiet environments. Exercises flexibility and the ability to shift from one task to another. Reasoning and exercising judgment are constantly used/required on the job.
