Job Overview We are seeking an energetic and dedicated 5/6 Grade Boys Basketball Coach to inspire young athletes and foster a passion for sportsmanship, teamwork, and physical activity. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to lead and develop middle school boys in basketball, helping them build skills both on and off the court. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in sports coaching, experience working with children, and excellent communication skills. Duties Plan and implement basketball training sessions tailored to 5th and 6th-grade boys, emphasizing fundamental skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship Lead practices and games, ensuring a safe, inclusive, and motivating environment for all participants Teach sport-specific techniques such as dribbling, shooting, passing, defense, and game strategy Foster positive behavior management strategies to encourage discipline, respect, and teamwork among players Communicate regularly with students, parents, and school staff regarding team progress, schedules, and player development Ensure safety protocols are followed during all activities, including the operation of AED (Automated External Defibrillator) equipment when necessary Promote physical fitness by integrating conditioning exercises and encouraging healthy competition Skills Proven experience in sports coaching or team leadership within basketball or similar sports such as soccer or cheerleading Strong background in working with children and understanding child development principles Knowledge of coaching techniques specific to middle school athletes and experience teaching physical education or sports-specific training instruction Excellent communication skills for effective client (student/parent) interaction and team motivation Ability to manage behavior effectively while fostering a fun and energetic atmosphere Certifications in first aid, CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation), AED operation, and health/safety standards required or preferred Experience with martial arts disciplines such as karate or judo is a plus for discipline training methods Familiarity with climbing activities or gym experience can enhance coaching versatility Demonstrated ability to teach sports skills such as basketball fundamentals while promoting teamwork and sportsmanship Join us as a 5/6 Grade Boys Basketball Coach to inspire young athletes through dynamic coaching sessions that emphasize skill development, character building, and healthy competition.
