About This Job As a Middle School Football Coach, you inspire and guide young athletes, fostering a love for the game while developing essential life skills. You build a positive team culture, emphasizing sportsmanship, discipline, and teamwork. This role significantly impacts student-athletes, shaping their character, promoting physical fitness, and contributing to a vibrant school community. You serve as a crucial mentor, helping students grow both on and off the field. Job Duties and Responsibilities Leads daily football practices, focusing on fundamental skills, drills, and strategic understanding. Develops practice plans that are engaging, age-appropriate, and progressive, ensuring player development. Implements effective game strategies, making in-game adjustments to maximize team performance. Manages all aspects of team operations, including equipment, scheduling, and logistics for practices and games. Prioritizes player safety, ensuring a secure environment and adhering to all relevant protocols and guidelines. Communicates clearly and effectively with players, parents, school staff, and officials regarding team activities, expectations, and individual progress. Models strong leadership, sportsmanship, and ethical behavior, setting a positive example for all team members. Fosters youth development by teaching responsibility, resilience, and the value of hard work. Mentors student-athletes, providing guidance and support to help them achieve their full potential. Instills a strong sense of sportsmanship, respect for opponents, and fair play within the team. Required Qualifications Education Holds a high school diploma or equivalent. Experience Possesses prior experience in football coaching, playing, or a related athletic leadership role. Demonstrates experience working with middle school-aged youth. Knowledge/Skills Applies comprehensive knowledge of football coaching techniques and strategies. Understands principles of youth development and positive athletic instruction. Exhibits strong leadership and motivational abilities. Develops effective practice plans and game strategies. Manages teams efficiently, including logistics and organization. Communicates excellently, both verbally and in writing. Ensures player safety through proactive measures and protocols. Promotes sportsmanship and ethical conduct. Provides effective mentoring and guidance to young athletes. Preferred Qualifications Holds a Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., Physical Education, Sports Management). Possesses current CPR and First Aid certification. Completes relevant coaching certifications from recognized athletic associations. Physical Requirements/Work Conditions Stands , walks, runs, and demonstrates physical movements for extended periods. Lifts and carries athletic equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. Works outdoors in various weather conditions, including heat, cold, and rain. Attends practices and games during evenings and weekends as required by the season schedule.
