Youth Sports Coach - N Zone Jr | Ages 2-7 N Zone Sports - 3-46 Corridor Passaic, Essex & Morris Counties, New Jersey About the Role N Zone Sports is looking for energetic, dependable, and kid-focused coaches to lead our N Zone Jr sports enrichment programs for children ages 2-7. Our coaches work with children at preschools, childcare centers, schools, and community locations throughout Northern New Jersey. N Zone Jr is about more than teaching sports. We use fun, structured, age-appropriate activities to help young children build movement skills, sports fundamentals, confidence, teamwork, listening skills, and social development . This is a part-time, in-person position for someone who enjoys working with young children, brings positive energy, and can make learning through sports fun. What You'll Do Lead fun, structured 30-45 minute N Zone Jr sessions for children ages 2-7. Introduce children to multiple sports, including: Soccer, Basketball ,T-ball/baseball, Flag football, General movement, coordination, and motor-skill activities Follow N Zone's provided curriculum and session plans while adapting activities to the age and ability of each group.
Teach foundational skills such as:
Running, jumping, balance, and coordination Basic throwing, catching, kicking, and ball control Listening and following directions Taking turns and working with others Confidence, teamwork, and sportsmanship Keep children moving, engaged, learning, and having fun throughout each session. Create a safe, positive, encouraging, and pressure-free environment. Demonstrate activities and provide simple, age-appropriate instructions. Redirect behavior positively and maintain structure while still keeping sessions fun. Set up, organize, and clean up equipment before and after sessions. Arrive on time, prepared, and ready to lead. Communicate professionally with N Zone leadership, partner-site staff, parents, and other coaches when needed Who Thrives in This Role You do not need to be an expert athlete or have experience coaching every sport. We can teach you our curriculum and coaching system. The right coach is someone who: Genuinely enjoys working with young children. Is patient with the short attention spans that come with ages 2-7. Is energetic, upbeat, encouraging, and comfortable being the center of attention. Isn't afraid to be animated, enthusiastic, or a little silly to keep kids engaged. Can give clear and simple instructions. Can manage a group while maintaining a positive environment. Understands that success at this age is about participation, development, confidence, and fun — not winning . Is dependable, punctual, and communicates well. Is comfortable being physically active throughout a session. Experience We're Looking For Experience working with children is strongly preferred.
Relevant backgrounds may include:
Youth sports coaching Preschool or childcare Teaching or education Summer camps Recreation programs After-school programs Babysitting or childcare Student-athletics or sports experience Previous coaching experience is a plus, but it is not required. If you're great with kids and willing to learn, we want to hear from you. Basic Requirements Comfortable working with children ages 2-7. Comfortable leading groups and simple sports activities. Reliable transportation to program locations throughout Passaic, Essex, and Morris Counties. Ability to be active, demonstrate activities, and set up/lightly transport sports equipment. Consistent availability during one or more of the following: Weekday mornings Weekday afternoons Weekend late mornings

Typically 5-10 hours per week to start, with opportunities for additional hours as programs expand.
Pay:
$18-$22 per hour , depending on experience, responsibilities, and role.
