Job Description
Do you like motivating strangers? Are you in a toxic relationship with burpees? Does bad form give you the ick? Have you ever said "last one" and immediately lied about it? Good. We have a floor for you.
SWEAT440
Old Bridge opens this January, and we are hiring the Head Coach who will be standing on that floor for the very first class. You won't be inheriting someone else's culture. You'll be building it. If you have been the best coach on somebody else's schedule and you're ready to be the one who sets the standard, keep reading.WHAT THIS JOB ACTUALLY IS
You run the floor. 40 minutes, 4 stations, a room full of people who came here because it's hard, and you are the reason they come back on Thursday. You keep the clock honest, the form clean, and the energy loud. You also lead the coaching team, which means the standard you set out there becomes the standard the whole studio runs on.ON THE FLOOR
(about 20 hours a week)- High energy from the first rep to the last. Every class, not just the fun ones.
- Hands-on coaching, cueing, correcting. If someone's lower back is doing the work their glutes should be doing, you catch it before they feel it tomorrow.
- Modify on the fly for injuries, beginners, and the member who forgot to mention the knee surgery until rep eight.
- Call out wins by name. People work harder when they're seen.
- Own the first timers. A great first class is why someone signs up. A mediocre one is why they ghost. You orient them, you walk them through it, and you hand them to the Leader on shift to talk membership.
- Run the room: station moves, timing, flow, nobody standing around confused.
- Deliver the daily bulletin on modifications, intensifiers, and technique so every coach on shift is saying the same thing.
LEADING THE TEAM
(about 10 hours a week)- Coach the coaches. Shadowing, feedback, evaluations, the whole thing.
- Onboard new trainers and get them floor-ready.
- Keep the floor safe. Layout, equipment use, no shortcuts.
- Stay current. If you're still teaching exactly what you learned in 2019, this isn't the role.
- Step in as Manager on Duty when a manager isn't on site.
- Help build the policies and procedures this studio runs on.
THE PART NOBODY PUTS IN THE AD
The studio has to be clean, stocked, and ready. Equipment gets sanitized. Tomorrow's workout gets set up before you leave tonight. Everybody here does this, top to bottom.YOU'LL DO WELL HERE IF
- You hold a nationally accredited certification (NASM, ACE, ISSA, NCSF, NSCA or similar) and current CPR/AED.
- You've coached group fitness and you genuinely like it, not as a stepping stone to something quieter.
- You can hold a hard standard with people who also like you.
- You want to run a studio one day and you want the reps to get there.
