Job Description
Job Overview TriCounty Basketball in an AAU basketball program for girls and boys grades 3-10. We are seeking an energetic and dedicated Basketball Coach to inspire young athletes and foster their love for the game. In this paid position, you will lead youth basketball teams, develop skill-building drills, and promote teamwork and sportsmanship. Your enthusiasm and coaching expertise will help children and teenagers improve their basketball skills while enjoying a positive, engaging sporting environment. This role offers a fantastic opportunity to make a lasting impact on young athletes' lives through sports, leadership, and mentorship. Responsibilities Plan and execute engaging basketball practices tailored to different age groups and skill levels Lead team practices and games, ensuring a fun, safe, and inclusive environment for all participants Develop sport-specific training programs to improve individual skills such as shooting, dribbling, passing, and defense Promote teamwork, sportsmanship, discipline, and positive attitude among players Communicate regularly with parents or guardians regarding player progress and team updates Monitor players' behavior during practices and games, applying effective behavior management strategies Ensure safety protocols are followed at all times, including first aid readiness and AED operation when necessary Skills Experience working with children in sport of basketball Strong knowledge of basketball rules, techniques, and coaching methods Background in sports coaching or team leadership, preferably with youth teams Excellent communication skills to motivate players and engage with parents or guardians effectively Demonstrated ability to manage behavior positively while fostering a team-oriented environment TriCounty Basketball is an equal opportunity employer encouraging those ready to be part of an exciting basketball program that competes locally and regionally
