Summary Description of Position:

The Assistant Basketball Coach will assist the Head Coach with the leadership, organization, development, and supervision of the basketball program. The assistant coach will work collaboratively with the Head Coach, athletes, families, school administration, and athletic department staff to ensure a safe and successful program aligned with district expectations.

Required Qualifications:

Valid New York State teaching license, and/or NYSED coaching certification. Completion of all required NYSPHSAA, Section 1, New York State, and district coaching requirements, including First Aid, CPR, AED, and concussion certification. Prior basketball coaching and/or competitive experience preferred. Demonstrated knowledge of basketball fundamentals, skills, strategies, rules, and game management. Ability to work effectively with student-athletes, families, coaches, and school personnel.

• In addition to the above qualifications, all public school employees need mandated fingerprint clearance through NYSED.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

The Assistant Basketball Coach will assist the Head Coach with all aspects of the basketball program, including but not limited to: Assist with planning and conducting practices, games, conditioning, and team activities. Teach and reinforce basketball fundamentals, skills, strategies, rules, and sportsmanship. Provide individualized instruction and feedback to support student-athlete development. Assist with preparation for games, scouting, skill development, and team strategy. Maintain a safe, positive, and inclusive team environment. Provide appropriate supervision of student-athletes during practices, games, and team travel. Communicate regularly with the Head Coach regarding student-athlete progress, attendance, injuries, and concerns. Assist with equipment management, uniforms, and facility responsibilities. Follow all district policies and comply with NYSPHSAA, Section 1, and New York State regulations. Attend scheduled practices, games, coaches' meetings, and required athletic department activities. Support appropriate recruitment and retention efforts to promote participation in the basketball program. Participate in professional development and coaching clinics. Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Coach, Athletic Director, or Principal.

Salary:
