Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY
Join the Rye Y Wave Ryeders! Now hiring part time assistant swim team coaches at the Rye YMCA! We are looking for coaches who are energetic, positive role models, and have experience coaching swim team and teaching youth and teens of all ages. Our competitive and non-competitive swim teams designed for children 5 - 18 years of age. Onsite training will be available at time of hire.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Assists Head Coach and coaches' swimmers.
- Teaches proper stroke techniques.
- Coordinates volunteers in cooperation with Head Coach for scoring, timing, publicity, transportation, housing, fundraising, etc.
- Maintains proper records for swimmers and YMCA staff.
- Conducts practices in accordance with YMCA schedule and enforces safety rules in pool area.
- Represents Rye YMCA at league meetings.
- Interprets policies of the YMCA to parents and children.
- Mobilizes swimmers for fundraising activities.
- Reports to area in appropriate uniform as designated by supervisors.
- Meets students on deck at designated area and checks attendance.
- Provides for safety of class through sound teaching methods and maintenance of good discipline and class control.
- Relates with enthusiasm, patience, courtesy, tact and concern when dealing with team members.
- Understands, upholds and enforces and regulations regarding supervision, safety and sanitation.
- Responsible for maintaining a clean pool deck, free of equipment. Safeguard and turn in lost and found.
- Reports immediately any accidents, rescues, potential dangers, incidents, etc. in to the Aquatics Director.
- Attends staff meetings and training sessions as designated by the Aquatics Director.
- Keeps abreast of current information relating to coaching, lifeguarding and aquatic safety.
