Head Cheerleading Coach & Program Director Location:
Yonkers, NY Position Type:
Part-Time (Year-Round) Approximately 10-20+ hours per week depending on season, with opportunity for growth.
Starting Pay:
$35/hour
DOE Required Schedule:
Tuesdays & Thursdays 5:00-8:00pm, Saturdays 9:00am-4:00pm, plus additional remote administrative work and occasional weekend events. We're looking for someone who shares that mission. This is more than a coaching position. We're searching for an inspiring leader who will help shape the future of our cheerleading program while becoming an integral member of our leadership team. New York All Stars is not a traditional All Star program - in fact, our programming extends far beyond just cheerleading and includes a multitude of fitness and performing arts opportunities. We've intentionally built a program that blends the athletic excellence of competitive cheerleading with the community, leadership, and inclusive spirit often found in school-based programs. We believe every athlete deserves high-quality coaching in an environment that prioritizes teamwork, character, confidence, and belonging as much as competitive success. Position Overview The Head Cheerleading Coach & Program Director will oversee our All Star Cheerleading Program, leading practices, preparing teams for competitions, mentoring assistant coaches, and helping families feel welcomed and supported.

The ideal candidate believes that success is measured by far more than trophies. They value sportsmanship, teamwork, confidence, accountability, and creating an environment where every athlete can thrive. Responsibilities Lead weekly practices for multiple cheer teams, ages 4-16. Oversee tumbling instructional programs Choreograph and clean routines appropriate for each team's level. Prepare athletes for competitions throughout the season. Teach proper stunt progressions, jumps, tumbling technique, motions, dance, conditioning, and performance skills. Mentor, train, and evaluate coaches. Foster a positive, encouraging, and disciplined team culture. Communicate professionally with families regarding schedules, expectations, and athlete progress. Assist with athlete evaluations, placements, and recruiting. Coordinate practices, competitions, showcases, and special events. Collaborate with the Executive Director to continue growing and improving the program. Support fundraising initiatives, community outreach, and promotional events. Represent New York All Stars with professionalism both inside and outside the gym. Qualifications Cheerleading coaching experience required. Strong knowledge of stunting, tumbling progressions, choreography, and safety standards. Experience working with children and teens. Excellent leadership and communication skills. Organized, dependable, and positive. Ability to motivate athletes while maintaining high expectations. CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain). We're looking for someone who... Provide coaching instruction in cheerleading fundamentals, stunts, tumbling, dance, and team coordination Manage behavior and discipline to foster a respectful environment that encourages teamwork and sportsmanship Collaborate with other sports coaches to integrate cross-training opportunities such as gymnastics or martial arts for skill enhancement Ensure all activities comply with safety protocols; operate AED (Automated External Defibrillator) devices and administer first aid or CPR when necessary Communicate regularly with parents, guardians, and school staff to provide updates on team progress and upcoming events Maintain detailed records of team attendance, performance evaluations, and safety incidents Promote health club standards by encouraging physical fitness, proper hydration, and injury prevention strategies Skills Proven experience in cheerleading coaching or sports team leadership with a focus on youth development Strong background in sports-specific training instruction including stunts, tumbling, dance, and choreography Knowledge of martial arts such as karate or judo enhances stunt safety and coordination skills Experience working with children or students in educational or recreational settings Excellent communication skills for effective client (parent/guardian) engagement and team motivation Ability to teach physical education concepts while managing behavior positively Certifications in first aid, CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation), AED operation, and child safety protocols are highly desirable Familiarity with soccer coaching or basketball can support versatile athletic training approaches Demonstrated leadership in sports coaching environments with a focus on teamwork and skill development Experience in health club or gym settings is a plus for understanding fitness fundamentals Join us as we cultivate a spirited cheerleading community that inspires confidence, celebrates achievement, and builds lifelong skills!
