POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

Head Men's and Women's Track Coach Mount Vernon Nazarene University exists to shape lives through educating the whole person and cultivating Christ-likeness for lifelong learning and service. Mount Vernon Nazarene University (MVNU) is an intentionally Christian teaching university for traditional age students, graduate students, and working adults who seek opportunities to learn and grow in an academic community of faith. The University seeks a full-time, 10-month, Head Men's and Women's Track Coach, for its Athletic Department on the Mount Vernon main campus. The position reports to the Director of Athletics and is available immediately, upon appointment of a successful candidate. The university is a member of the Crossroads League in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). MVNU is also a distinctively evangelical Christian university, and the candidate must be in agreement with our mission and demonstrate a personal, evangelical faith. Salary will be commensurate with education and experience. A full complement of benefits is provided including a health care plan, retirement plan, and tuition assistance (for self and dependents). The candidate will also receive generous holidays, and vacation and sick days. Responsibilities for this position include: Daily responsibilities:

• Planning and directing all phases of the intercollegiate Track program
• Operate the Men's & Women's Track program under the NAIA guidelines
• Organize and conduct team practice sessions and games
• Recruit prospective student-athletes
• Manage Men's & Women's Track budgets and stay within the budget each year
• Schedule competitions with the approval of the Director of Athletics
• Supervise assistant coaches
• Serve as a spiritual mentor
• Schedule study halls and monitor grades and classes of student-athletes each semester
• Assist in eligibility certification of a team
• Manage all other aspects of an intercollegiate athletic program
• Coordinate summer camp(s), if desired
• Attend all athletic department meetings
• Support other athletic events taking place on campus
• Other duties as assigned. Expectations for the successful candidate:
• Evangelical Christian statement of faith, experience and mission fit
• Bachelor's degree required, Master's preferred in field relevant to Coaching and Teaching
• Previous coaching experience and the effective supervision of student-athletes preferred
• Approaches every assignment and responsibility from a Christian perspective, exhibiting ethics, integrity and professionalism in all dealings
• Relates to each administrator, faculty, and staff member humbly, patiently, gently, and supporting one another in Christian love
• Demonstrates effective and efficient use of University resources
• Shows thorough familiarity with and understands University resources sufficiently to appropriately direct inquiries or provide appropriate information about community resources in a timely, professional and collegial manner
• Exhibits good judgment in decision-making based on University guidelines
• Shows initiative to anticipate and attempt to resolve all problems/issues/needs while maintaining essential services
• Coordinates with appropriate academic or administrative personnel, assignments and responsibilities that cross administrative lines, working cooperatively, demonstrating the ability to work well in team-based efforts
• Committed to the pursuit of lifelong personal and professional growth striving to improve job skills and obtain requisite knowledge and capabilities to support the University's goals and objectives
• Strives for quality communication with the objective of strengthening relationships with all University constituents
• Must be capable of sitting, walking or standing for long periods of time, frequent use of stairs, ability to lift 70 pounds.
