Job Description

Job Title:
Head Coach, Regional Campus Athletic Program Physical Location:
Tuscarawas Campus•
New Philadelphia, OH Salary:
$19.00 hour
Basic Function:
Provide leadership for men's, women's, and/or combined sports programs at Kent State regional campus. Administer and promote programs within the university's mission, including recruiting student-athletes. Reports to Director, Regional Campus Athletic Program or designated supervisor. Examples of Duties:
Duties/essential functions may include, but not be limited to, the following: Provide leadership for the combined programs; utilize coaching strategies and teaching methods to develop student-athletes' skill and teamwork; analyze teams' performance and adjust strategies as needed. Oversee recruitment of student-athletes. Enforce policies and procedures for student-athletes and assistant coaches. Analyze equipment needs; assist with fundraising activities to subsidize athletic program. Develop strategies to foster athletic and academic progress of student-athletes. May perform public relations activities to promote the program. Submit scores and statistics to media and United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA). Supervise student-athletes and assistant coaches. Perform related duties as assigned. Additional Examples of Duties•if applicable:
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree and two years of progressively responsible experience coaching high school, collegiate, and/or professional athletic teams•OR-Associate degree and four years of progressively responsible experience coaching high school, collegiate, and/or professional athletic teams•OR-Six or more years of progressively responsible experience coaching high school, collegiate, and/or professional athletic teams.

Must be able to work nontraditional hours, including evenings and weekends. Must be able to complete KSU's 12-passenger van and mini-bus training. Must be able to transport athletes to and from athletic events in university vehicles. Must be able to travel regionally.
License/Certification:
American Red Cross certification in CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and Health Care Providers required within 30 days of hire. Valid driver license and safe driving record.
Knowledge Of:
National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA) and United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) rules and regulations, plus all applicable rules and regulations associated with the sport being coached Student-athlete standard practices
Skill In:
Recruiting, coaching, instructing, and training student-athletes Public relations Verbal and written communications and interpersonal skills Basic personal computer use, including
MS Excel and Word Ability To:
Provide leadership and direction Manage a budget Analyze situations and develop solutions Work nontraditional hours, including evenings and weekends Travel regionally Preferred Qualifications•if applicable: Master's degree. Collegiate-level athletic playing experience.

Physical Requirements:
Light work•Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently to move objects. Incumbent must be able to communicate with others. Must be able to work nontraditional hours, including evenings and weekends. Requires regional travel.
