Job Description

The cheerleading program at Sheridan High School is growing and we are seeking an Assistant Coach to help continue the momentum.

This person will work with a Head Coach or volunteer coach at times and the cheer program is a long-term commitment; our season runs August - March with weeknight practices and games. Travel required for away Football games and competitions.

Areas of Responsibility:

Effectively communicate with a diverse group of athletes, coaches and game officials

Conduct practices in a lively, patient and organized manner

Train and supervise the performance of the cheerleaders during practice, games, and competitions

Choreograph and teach cheer routines that incorporate stunting, tumbling, jumps, and dance for both game day and competition teams

Address behavioral and learning issues with parents appropriately

Closely monitor students and teach safety

Manage and execute administrative duties like uniform purchasing, fundraising, team events, etc.

Qualifications Required:

Coaching experience and certification (strong foundation of stunting and tumbling techniques preferred)

Current First Aid Card (or ability to receive one)

Ability to complete all OCCA required training

Mini-bus certification (or ability to receive one)

Meet OSAA standards

Background check will be done
