Athletics & Coaching Milton Hershey School (MHS) is one of the world's premier pre-K through 12th grade private schools, dedicated to providing a career-focused cost-free education and housing to students from disadvantaged backgrounds. Founded in 1909 through the generosity of Milton and Catherine Hershey, MHS is fully endowed, ensuring students have the resources they need to thrive. The school has empowered over 12,000 graduates to lead fulfilling and productive lives and currently serves approximately 2,200 students with ongoing expansion efforts to provide amazing opportunities to even more young learners. MHS provides enrolled students an amazing multitude of athletic opportunities, with access to state-of-the-art facilities and programs led by committed coaching staffs. MHS offers Varsity, JV, Junior High, and Recreational teams for 15 sports and intramural programs. Athletic programs begin in Elementary and Middle Division and culminate to the Senior Division Varsity level. Our program has produced many successful seasons ending with Mid Penn Conference, PIAA District III, and PIAA State Championships. Many athletes also advance to play at the college level after graduation fromMHS. MHS
provides enrolled students with a multitude of opportunities, including numerous athletic options with access to state-of-the-art athletic facilities led by a committed coaching staff. We are currently seeking a Basketball Coach (5/6 grades) for a one-year ancillary position at Middle School. The head coach is responsible for leading the program year-round to develop students athletically and competitively, as well as instilling character so they excel in their sport and in life. The Winter season runs from November through February, with practices two days per week (flexible) with 12 games (as scheduled). The stipend amount is based on experience and working the entire season.Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent. Bachelor's degree preferred. Driver's license, in good standing, required. Minimum of 3 years of successful coaching experience with demonstrated success in establishing a highly competitive program, while also instilling high-quality character. Must have current knowledge of techniques, rules and regulations, and training theory of the sport. Demonstrated ability to lead & inspire diverse youth. Experience working with lower income students preferred. Demonstrated exceptional organizational and planning skills. Demonstrated ability to multi-task and lead a team of coaches. Demonstrated ability to collaborate & influence in cross-functional settings. Ability to build a network to facilitate new and creative opportunities. Candidates must be eager to build the program & invest in student talent development year-round. Candidates must demonstrate a high degree of integrity as all MHS staff are role models for students.
