Academy Director / Baseball Operations Director Position Overview We are seeking a knowledgeable, energetic, and dependable Baseball Instructor & Travel Baseball Coach to join our organization. This position combines individual and small-group baseball instruction with coaching responsibilities for one of our travel baseball teams. The ideal candidate understands player development, communicates effectively with young athletes and parents, and is committed to teaching the game the right way. Our goal is not simply to win games, but to develop skilled, confident, disciplined players who understand how to compete and be great teammates. Key Responsibilities Baseball Instruction Provide individual, small-group, and team instruction in hitting, fielding, throwing, pitching, catching, and/or other areas based on experience. Evaluate players and identify strengths, weaknesses, and areas for development. Create age-appropriate training plans and drills. Teach proper fundamentals, mechanics, game awareness, and baseball IQ. Provide clear and constructive feedback to players. Maintain a positive, organized, and productive training environment. Assist with academy camps, clinics, evaluations, tryouts, and special events as needed. Travel Baseball Coaching Serve as a head coach or assistant coach for an assigned travel baseball team. Plan and conduct organized, purposeful team practices. Manage games, including lineups, defensive positioning, substitutions, pitching decisions, and in-game strategy as appropriate to the age level. Emphasize player development while creating a competitive team environment. Teach players preparation, accountability, effort, sportsmanship, and respect for teammates, opponents, coaches, and umpires. Communicate schedules, expectations, and player-development information professionally with players and parents. Work collaboratively with other coaches and academy leadership to maintain consistent organizational standards. Attend scheduled practices, games, tournaments, team meetings, and organizational events. Represent the organization professionally at all times. Qualifications Strong baseball knowledge and playing and/or coaching experience. College baseball playing or coaching experience preferred. Previous experience coaching youth or travel baseball is preferred. Ability to teach baseball skills rather than simply demonstrate them. Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills. Dependable, punctual, professional, and willing to work as part of a coaching staff. Ability to connect with and motivate athletes at different ages and skill levels. Willingness to work evenings and weekends based on training and tournament schedules. Ability to travel to tournaments and games when required. Must successfully complete any required background checks and organizational safety requirements. What We Look For in Our Coaches We want coaches who are teachers first. Schedule This position may include weekday afternoon/evening instruction, team practices, weekend games and tournaments, camps, clinics, and other academy programming. Travel-team schedules will vary depending on age group and season. Compensation Compensation is based on coaching experience, playing background, instructional experience, responsibilities, and availability. Opportunities for additional income may be available through private lessons, small-group instruction, camps, clinics, and other academy programming. Our Coaching Philosophy Develop the player.
