Aug 17, 2026 Job Description The New Hope-Solebury School District is looking for a High School Coed Varsity Cross Country Assistant Coach responsible for supporting the Head Coach in the administration, organization, and development of the High School Cross Country program. This position supports the District's mission by promoting academic achievement, athletic excellence, sportsmanship, and the personal growth of student-athletes in a coeducational environment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Assist the Head Coach in the planning, organization, and supervision of the Coed Varsity Cross Country program in accordance with District policies and PIAA regulations. Coach and supervise student-athletes during training sessions, focusing on distance running techniques, pacing, and proper warm-up/cool-down protocols. Support the implementation of training plans for both male and female athletes across varying ability levels. Instruct student-athletes in race strategies, course management, and safety practices for off-campus training runs. Evaluate athlete performance and provide constructive feedback to support individual progress and team development. Promote and model appropriate conduct, sportsmanship, and respect for teammates, opponents, officials, and the school community. Support the academic success and overall well-being of student-athletes in alignment with District expectations. Collaborate with the Head Coach to ensure consistency in training philosophy and team culture. Assist with meet preparation and management, including athlete supervision, timing, and logistics at both home and away events. Help ensure the proper use, maintenance, and storage of team equipment and training gear. Communicate effectively and professionally with student-athletes, parents/guardians, and athletic department staff. Ensure compliance with District policies, PIAA regulations, and league rules regarding safety and eligibility. Uphold and enforce District codes of conduct, team rules, and expectations. Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Coach or Athletic Director. Qualifications Prior coaching and/or competitive experience in Cross Country or distance running preferred. Knowledge of distance running mechanics, training principles, and safety practices for road and trail running. Ability to work effectively with a diverse group of student-athletes in a coed educational environment. Strong communication, reliability, and organizational skills. Ability to collaborate effectively with the Head Coach, administrators, and school staff. Completion of all required District, PIAA, and state-mandated clearances and coaching certifications.
