A Coach works with individual athletes or with sports teams to develop skills and improve teamwork and competitive performance. Runs practice sessions and physical conditioning programs; assesses the strengths and weaknesses of players; plans strategies for games; motivates and encourage players and teaches good sportsmanship.
George School, a Quaker boarding/day grades 9-12 college preparatory high school located in Newtown, Bucks County, PA has an opening for a seasonal Cheer Assistant Coach . Responsibilities Plan and lead engaging, safe, and well-organized daily practices. Teach cheerleading skills, including motions, jumps, dance, chants, stunts, and conditioning appropriate to the team's skill level. Develop practice plans that promote skill progression, teamwork, confidence, and physical fitness. Foster a culture of integrity, mutual respect, inclusion, and encouragement that reflects George School's Quaker commitment to equality and community. Promote leadership, sportsmanship, empathy, and respectful communication among team members. Prepare the squad for athletic events, pep rallies, and other school performances. Ensure the safety and well-being of all athletes by following recognized cheer safety guidelines. Communicate effectively with students, families, athletic staff, and school administrators. Support the academic success and personal growth of student-athletes while serving as a positive role model.
Requirements:
Previous cheerleading coaching or competitive cheer experience preferred. Demonstrated knowledge of cheer techniques, including motions, jumps, dance, sideline cheers, and safe stunt progression. Ability to teach and supervise stunts in accordance with recognized safety standards. Current CPR, First Aid, and AED certification, or willingness to obtain certification before the season begins. Ability to obtain all required employment clearances and successfully complete required background checks. Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and conflict-resolution skills. Ability to collaborate effectively with athletic department staff, faculty, students, and families. Availability to attend practices, games, school events, and any required meetings or professional development. Commitment to working towards antiracism and developing and practicing cultural competency. Commitment to the traditions and philosophy of a Quaker educational community. Ability to work with a diverse student population and a style consistent with Quaker values.
