Job Description

The High School Assistant Coach assists in supporting the leadership, supervision, and organization for the high school Swimming/Diving program, Winter season. Responsible for the design and implementation of athletic planning, student-athlete development, and collaboration with the coaching staff to ensure a competitive and safe environment.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

High school diploma required; Bachelor's degree preferred.

Demonstrated coaching experience at the high school varsity or collegiate level. Previous head coaching experience at the high school level or collegiate level preferred.

Deep knowledge of sport-specific strategy, player development, and competition preparation.

Valid Pennsylvania Driver's License required.

Must possess excellent interpersonal skills and be cooperative, congenial, and service-oriented.

Ability to work as a coordinator and a member of a team while communicating effectively.

Ability to work in an environment with frequent interruptions and work under periods of stress.

Ability to recognize areas of concern (player safety, team dynamics) and propose appropriate solutions.

Demonstrates effective field/classroom management skills and possesses conflict mediation skills.

Knowledge of budgets and ability to monitor budget processes.

Strong organizational, strategic planning, and pro-social collaboration skills.

Ability to be flexible, self-directed, and work well in a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural environment. Original certificates of clearance from the State Police, Child Abuse Registry, and PDE FBI.

Qualified candidates will be required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, and crouch for extended periods.

Have the ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds (equipment).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Assists in overseeing Varsity, JV, and freshman programs to improve player skills and team competitiveness. Provides individual and small group instruction related to Swimming/Diving fundamentals and maintains a positive rapport with students and parents. Maintains familiarity with PIAA and District eligibility requirements and stays informed on modern coaching techniques and safety protocols, such as concussion management.

Assists with the implementation and maintenance of athletic facilities and identifies equipment needs, including the proper fitting of protective gear.

Maintains familiarity with PIAA and District eligibility requirements. Collaborates on practice plans and utilizes digital video analysis software for film review sessions.

Helps plan and deliver off-season conditioning and summer camp programs in alignment with district goals.

Assists in providing an inclusive environment that takes into account diverse student backgrounds, skill levels, and individual differences in connection with athletic development.

Maintains the confidentiality of student academic and medical records and abides by all federal, state (PIAA), and local district regulations. Maintains the confidentiality of student academic and medical records as part of exercising professional duties.
