JOB DESCRIPTION

Coaches are responsible for organizing, teaching, and leading participants on Woodlynde's athletic teams and ensure the safety of the student athletes on their respective teams.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Organizes and leads practices after school, Monday through Thursday 3:00-4:30PM (Middle School) during the season.
• Accompanies team to matches/contests, provides instruction during contests, and represents Woodlynde's athletic program by interacting positively with officials and other coaches. Coaches may be asked to drive a 10-passenger van to and from practices/games.
• Sets high expectations for academics and behavior of student-athletes and holds students accountable if they get into trouble.
• Ensures the safety of students while in route to or participating in practices and contests and secures the attention of an athletic trainer when an injury occurs.
• Understands the signs and symptoms of concussions and keeps students who are suspected of having a concussion out of practices or contests until cleared
• Promotes a positive team culture and climate.
• Prioritizes teaching life skills and lessons, such as teamwork, communication, dedication, humility, and accountability over winning games and competitions.
• Communicates regularly with parents regarding team schedules, game times/locations, and team updates.
• Communicates any issues or concerns with Director of Athletics and any injuries with the Athletic Trainer.
• Dresses, acts, and talks appropriately at all times.
• Other duties as assigned.

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience playing or coaching the sport
• Experience with students with learning differences and ADHD preferred
• The ideal candidate is outgoing, well organized, competent in basic computer skills, and is an individual who is eager to work in a highly dynamic, energetic school setting.
