Seasonal (2026-2027 AHL Season; Approximately 7 Months, Mid-September - Mid-April, Including Duration of Playoff Run), Paid via stipend Overview Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins Hockey Team, the AHL affiliate of the Pittsburgh Penguins is seeking a highly motivated Strength & Conditioning Associate Coach to join our team for the 2026-2027 season (September -April). This is a unique opportunity to gain valuable experience in a professional hockey and is ideal for candidates interested in pursuing a career in professional sports or hockey. Hours Hours vary but the expectation is 30+ hours per week during the AHL season. Typically, mornings on practice days and afternoons and evenings on gamedays. Compensation $2,000 per month and two meals per day provided during working hours. Key Responsibilities Performance & Training Assist Performance Staff with implementation of strength & conditioning program on practice and game days. Lead daily preparation routines, team stretches, conditioning/speed work (with supervision if uncertified). Performance Monitoring & Data Management Assist in athlete in-season performance monitoring including Vald Force Plates, Polar Heart Rate System, Vald ForceFrame, Catapult, and other player KPIs. Manage, analyze, and communicate performance data while upholding confidentiality and ethical standards. Assist with maintaining athlete management systems and sport science equipment. Operations & Equipment Maintain weight room equipment and cleanliness. Maintain inventory checklist of supplements and other consumables. Manage fueling station and assist in the preparation of fueling and/or recovery nutrition as required. Communication & Collaboration Daily communication with Head Strength & Conditioning Coach, Head Athletic Trainer, Assistant Athletic Trainer, Team Manager, and Coaches. Qualifications Required Qualifications Pursuing a degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology or a related field. CPR/First Aid certified. Relevant experience with team sport athletes. Valid Driver's License. Preferred Skills Graduate student or recent graduate in a relevant sports performance field. Professional Certifications such as NSCA-CSCS or NSCA-CPSS, or licensure as ATC or PT. Experience working with hockey or collegiate athletes. Familiarity with sport science technologies. Valid Passport for potential travel.
