Swimming Full Job Description Position Summary:
Build a positive, inclusive, safe and supportive team environment that fosters personal growth & development, teamwork and sportsmanship for athletes, coaches and volunteers.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Prepare and execute comprehensive training programs at all levels that meet the needs of each practice group in stroke technique and development that is in alignment with the competition calendar for short course, longcourseand Championship seasons. Assessment and assignment of swimmers to training groups andappropriate goalsetting. Maintain regular communication with swimmers and families to assess individual and team progress Ensurethe healthand safety of all participants.

Prioritize the safety of all swimmers during practices andmeets. Follow proper protocol and guidelines set forth by
YUSA, USA
Swimming and Safe Sport. Responsible for acquisition, onboarding and recommendation of termination if applicabletocoaching staff. Observes and enforces all rules and regulations of the YMCA, including behavior in the locker rooms,pooland dry-land area, as well as off-site facilities.

Ensure assistant coaches are enforcing YMCA team rules,regulationsand policies Provide leadership and management for swim meets. This includes encouraging participation by team members, parent volunteers, officials,and coaches. Work withthe AquaticDirector to develop and manage the swim team budget. This includes overseeing the annual fundraising SwimForYour Cause program, teamgiftand year end banquet Assistin the recruitment,supervision,and evaluation ofpart-timeswim coaches. Work withthe AquaticDirector to market the program as needed throughout the year. This includes working with local newsagencies to help recognizeteamand individual swimmers. Attend training/meetingsasrequired Demonstrate the Y core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility Work with staff,volunteersand YMCA members to develop a family atmosphere and team spirit Stay abreast of current and future trends that will positivelyimpactthe program and staff Develop and implement a dry-land program for swimmers ages 11 & over Be an active member in the SENECY Swim league
Qualifications:
Current or ability to obtainYMCA Swim CoachCertification Current or ability to obtain USA Swim Coach Certification Current or ability to obtain First Aid/BLS/O2 certification Coaching experience thatdemonstratesaknowledgeof development and advanced swimmers in stroke technique and training methodologies. Strong understanding of overall balance of training for distance,sprintand taper techniques Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously Proficient in meet management software or ability to learn systems Demonstrate reliability, availability and ethical behavior including punctuality, confidentiality, professionalism, positive and constructive feedback Ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, attention to detail, and follow through. Knowledge of YUSA and USA Competitive regulations and requirements
Certifications and Training:
First Aid and O2 every 2 years BLS (CPR & AED) annually Child Abuse Prevention annually Principles of Competitive Swimming and Diving YMCA Swim Coach Certification USA Swim Coach Certification
