(H.G.D.C.) — Home of the Sapphires Columbia, South Carolina Part-Time / Contract $20.00 per hour + competition/event stipends House of Gems Dance Co. is seeking an energetic, experienced, and dependable Head Majorette Coach for the H.G.D.C. Sapphires, our competitive youth majorette team serving girls in grades 7-12. Formerly Pynk Strut Elite, H.G.D.C. has undergone a complete rebrand and is entering a new competitive season focused on developing dancers who are confident, disciplined, technically strong, and performance-ready. Schedule Regular practices are:

Tuesdays & Thursdays7:00 PM-9:00 PM Columbia, SC 29223 Competition season runs November 2026 through August 2027 . Coaches must also have reasonable Saturday/weekend availability for scheduled competitions, performances, parades, and special events. What You'll Do The Head Coach will: Lead competitive majorette practices and dancer development Teach and create choreography Develop field, stand battle, parade, and competition routines Lead warm-ups, conditioning, stretching, and technique training Clean routines and prepare dancers for competition Evaluate dancer progress and performance readiness Help develop formations, transitions, tricks, and performance concepts Work alongside the Assistant Coach and H.G.D.C. Director Provide firm, positive, age-appropriate coaching for dancers ages 13-17 Attend designated competitions and performances What We're Looking For We're looking for someone who is creative, structured, energetic, reliable, and comfortable coaching competitive dancers. Majorette, HBCU-style dance, hip-hop, jazz, pom, field show, stand battle, or competitive dance experience is strongly preferred. Previous coaching/choreography experience is preferred.

Applicants must:

Be 18 years of age or older Have reliable transportation Be dependable and punctual Be comfortable working with teenagers Maintain professional boundaries with minor dancers Be able to pass a background check Be available for Tuesday and Thursday evening practices Have reasonable weekend availability during competition season

Compensation Head Coach:

$20.00/hour Regular contracted coaching services are paid semi-monthly on the 15th and 30th. Special events are compensated separately.

$150 Travel or extended/out-of-town events may have separate compensation arrangements established in advance. Upcoming Tryouts H.G.D.C. Sapphires will hold FREE team tryouts on October 24, 2026 from 8:00 AM-12:00 PM. The selected Head Coach will have the opportunity to work directly with prospective dancers during tryouts and assist with evaluating the inaugural 2026-2027 Sapphires roster.
