GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Provide quality swim lesson instruction for individuals of all ages and abilities. Create a positive and fun learning environment for developing swimming skills and self-confidence in the water with an emphasis on safety. Analyze swimming skills and provide instruction in proper stroke and swimming technique.
JOB REQUIREMENTS, PREFERRED EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND WORK EXPERIENCE
  • Minimum age 16 years.
  • Current First Aid Certification (or obtain upon hire)
  • 1 year swim lesson instruction experience preferred.
  • Red Cross or YMCA Swim Instructor Certification preferred (training provided upon hire).
  • Ability to properly perform and demonstrate swimming strokes.
  • Ability to analyze swimming skills and strokes and provide corrective feedback and hands on direction for proper skill development.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Hours will vary (early morning, daytime, evenings and weekends)
  • Understand and be knowledgeable in the YMCA swim lesson program curriculum.
  • Create and maintain a positive, fun, controlled and safe environment for teaching swimming skills.
  • Demonstrations and hands on instruction.
  • Develop trust with each student.
  • Maintain required records.
  • A willingness to commit to the mission of the YMCA
  • Establish and maintain harmonious relationships with staff, volunteers, members and the general public
  • Other duties as assigned.
