The high school assistant track coach will support the head coach by conducting training sessions for specific event groups (sprints, throws, jumps, distance), supervising student-athletes during practices and meets, maintaining equipment, and ensuring compliance with school and state athletic regulations. The assistant coach will also promote academic progress and positive sportsmanship.

Key Responsibilities:

Implement daily workout plans for athletes in specific disciplines (e.g., jumps, throws, hurdles) under the direction of the head coach. Monitor athletes in locker rooms, during practices, and at away meets to ensure safety and discipline. Assist in issuing and maintaining equipment and uniforms, monitoring player eligibility, and managing team statistics. Assist with arranging travel, setting up equipment at meets, and coordinating event entries. Promote sportsmanship, academic success, and positive behavior among student-athletes.

Qualifications:

Teacher Certification/WVSSAC Training. Previous experience in coaching or participating in track at the high school level preferred. Strong understanding of the fundamentals of track and field. Effective communication, leadership, and motivational skills are essential. Passion for working with high school-aged student-athletes and a commitment to their development. Strong organizational and planning skills are necessary for managing practices, meets, and administrative tasks. Dedication to promoting good sportsmanship, teamwork, and positive values among student-athletics.
