A Coach works with individual athletes or with sports teams to develop skills and improve teamwork and competitive performance. Runs practice sessions and physical conditioning programs; assesses the strengths and weaknesses of players; plans strategies for games; motivates and encourage players and teaches good sportsmanship.
Girls Basketball Job Description Knowledge of the fundamentals, rules, and strategies of basketball. Ability to teach age-appropriate basketball skills, including shooting, passing, dribbling, defense, rebounding, spacing, and teamwork. Experience coaching, playing, or assisting with basketball at the youth, middle school, high school, or comparable level preferred. Strong understanding of middle school student development and the ability to work effectively with young adolescents. Ability to build positive relationships with student-athletes, parents, staff, and the community. Commitment to developing student-athletes both on and off the court, including character, discipline, responsibility, sportsmanship, and academic accountability. Ability to create a positive team culture that promotes effort, respect, teamwork, and school pride. Strong communication skills with students, parents, school administration, and athletic staff. Ability to organize and conduct effective practices that focus on skill development, team concepts, conditioning, and player growth. Willingness to follow all school, district, TSSAA, and athletic department rules, policies, and expectations. Ability to supervise student-athletes before, during, and after practices, games, travel, and team activities. Commitment to maintaining a safe, structured, and respectful environment for all student-athletes. Ability to model professionalism, integrity, emotional control, and good sportsmanship at all times. Willingness to collaborate with school administration, athletic directors, and other coaches to support the overall athletic program. Ability to manage team responsibilities such as equipment, uniforms, schedules, communication, and game-day preparation. Must meet all district requirements for coaching, including background checks, required trainings, certifications, and any other employment or volunteer requirements.
