We're looking for someone who understands that coaching is more than knowing how to swim. Our coaches are responsible for helping swimmers develop technically, physically, and mentally while creating a positive, encouraging team environment.
The right candidate will:
Have competitive swimming and/or coaching experience Understand the fundamentals of all four competitive strokes, starts, turns, streamlines, and racing skills Be able to develop and conduct age- and ability-appropriate practices Be able to modify practices based on the needs of individual swimmers Provide meaningful technical feedback and corrections Build positive relationships with swimmers and families Arrive on time and prepared to coach Take initiative and work independently Accept feedback and use it to improve Communicate effectively with the coaching staff Take ownership of responsibilities and follow through without constant supervision We are especially interested in coaches who can answer the question: "Why are we doing this?" We don't expect every coach to know everything. We do expect our coaches to be willing to learn, ask questions, prepare, and take responsibility for their swimmers and their coaching.
Qualifications:
Competitive swimming and/or coaching experience Experience working with children preferred USA Swimming experience preferred Lifeguard certification preferred Strong knowledge of competitive swimming fundamentals High school diploma or equivalent Must be at least 15 years old
Schedule:
Late afternoons/evenings, with occasional weekend meets and events. Approximately 8-15 hours per week, with opportunities for additional hours based on qualifications, availability, and team needs.
Compensation:
$18-$22/hour based on experience, qualifications, and coaching responsibilities.
