In person About the Role The Athletic Collegiate is hiring an Elementary Learning Coach for Grades 3-5 for our 2026-2027 Student-Athlete Co-Study program at Life Time Frisco. The Learning Coach supports a small group of student-athletes as they complete coursework through their assigned school of record. Students arrive with established curriculum, so this role does not require developing a full curriculum or creating grade-level lesson plans from scratch. The role is centered on academic support, knowledge retention, accountability, and student development. Learning Coaches help students understand what they are learning, reinforce important concepts, stay organized and on pace, and apply their knowledge through discussion, projects, presentations, review, and meaningful academic activities. Learning Coaches also mentor students in the habits and character expected of strong student-athletes, including goal setting, emotional intelligence, accountability, sportsmanship, discipline, confidence, and respect for the process of improvement. Responsibilities Guide students through assigned coursework, lessons, assignments, and daily academic goals Provide academic support across reading, writing, math, science, and other elementary subjects as needed Reinforce key concepts through review, discussion, practice, and application to support comprehension and knowledge retention Support projects, presentations, written assignments, and hands-on learning activities Encourage critical thinking by helping students explain, connect, and apply what they are learning Help students stay organized, focused, on pace, and accountable while building strong study habits and independence Provide basic technical support with devices, online learning platforms, logins, and coursework navigation when needed Guide students in setting and working toward academic, athletic, and personal goals Reinforce emotional intelligence skills, resilience, respectful communication, and personal responsibility Model sportsmanship, teamwork, discipline, coachability, leadership, and a positive student-athlete mindset Maintain a calm, structured, professional, and supportive learning environment Supervise students throughout academic time, breaks, transitions, and program activities Monitor student progress and communicate relevant academic or developmental needs with program leadership Follow all program safety, supervision, and site procedures Qualifications Experience working with elementary-age students Ability to provide academic support at the Grades 3-5 level Strong communication, organization, and student-management skills Comfortable using technology and online learning platforms Able to explain concepts clearly and support different learning styles and pacing needs Patient, dependable, professional, and student-centered Available in person Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 8:30 AM-1:30 PM Must pass required background checks and fingerprinting Preferred Experience Current or former NCAA Division I student-athletes preferred Collegiate or competitive athletic experience is a plus Elementary education, tutoring, academic support, mentoring, or coaching experience Experience working with young student-athletes Experience with individualized or online curriculum Understanding of goal setting, leadership, accountability, emotional intelligence, and sportsmanship Why Join The Athletic Collegiate The Athletic Collegiate offers Learning Coaches the opportunity to work in a personalized, small-group academic setting where students are known and supported individually.
