Time Requirements:
We're currently hiring school year instructors with preference to those who can continue as year-round instructors. Current open shift times run between the hours of 3pm-8pm M-F and 8:45am-1:00pm on Saturdays. 2 semester commitment required.Essential Functions Include:
Instructor Responsibilities- Teach swimming techniques, swimming strokes, and water safety rules to students with varying swimming abilities
- Assess the progress of students and adjust teaching instruction to differentiate for each student's skill ability
- Monitor students to prevent accidents and injuries
- Implement classroom management and facility rules for each swim session
- Identify incorrect swimming techniques and correct students accordingly
- Ensure that the swimming pool and locker rooms are kept clean and tidy
- Collaborate with on-shift instructors to complete with opening and closing duties for eachshift
- Maintain consistent class schedule
- instructors are assigned the same students on a recurring schedule and must arrange a substitute if unable to attend Customer Service/Relationship Management
- Maintain a positive, kind, and humble disposition with all students, instructors, swim families, vendors, and employees of rented spaces.
- Provide excellent customer service to parents through in-person conversations by actively providing student progress reports/homework and addressing issues or concerns
- Problem-solve with families when students are needing additional help.
- Maintain an open line of communication with leadership team to troubleshoot concerns and offer productive solutions to clients and swim families
Requirements:
- Great with kids and adults!
- 1+ years of educational, childcare, aquatics programming, or swim team experience preferred
- A team player who leads with humility
- eager to learn and serve their team.
- Exhibit integrity in both personal and professional life
- An empathetic, energetic, passionate, and skilled teacher who is GREAT with kids!
- Classroom management skills
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Strong interpersonal and conflict resolution skills, including the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
- Have an attitude of collaboration with parents and co-workers to best meet each child's individual need
- Knowledge of customer service standards and procedures.
- Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.
- CPR/First Aid certifications or willingness to acquire
- Sound knowledge of proper swimming techniques and water safety rules
