Are you passionate about swimming and enjoy helping others grow and succeed? Spanish Fork City is seeking an enthusiastic and dependable Assistant Swim Coach to support our swim team at the FitCity Center. This role is a great opportunity to positively impact swimmers of all ages and abilities while working alongside the Head Coach and Aquatics team. As an Assistant Coach, you will help create a fun, motivating, and supportive environment where athletes can improve their skills, build confidence, and develop a love for the sport. You'll play an important role in encouraging teamwork, sportsmanship, and personal growth both in and out of the water. About the Position Under the direction of the Head Swim Coach and Aquatic Management Team, the Assistant Swim Coach will help support practices, meets, and daily team operations while maintaining a safe and positive learning environment. On-Deck SupportSkill Development Assist with implementing age-appropriate training plans focused on stroke technique, endurance, and overall skill development. Provide feedback to swimmers on stroke mechanics, starts, turns, and finishes. Encourage swimmers to work toward individual goals while promoting teamwork. Help create a positive, energetic, and inclusive team atmosphere. Support swimmers of varying skill levels, helping each athlete progress at their own pace. SafetySupervision Help ensure a safe environment during practices and meets. Recognize and respond appropriately to emergencies within the aquatic setting. Assist with supervision of swimmers and maintaining safe practice conditions. Participate in staff training and in-service opportunities as scheduled. CommunicationTeam Environment Build positive relationships with swimmers, families, and staff members. Communicate effectively with the Head Coach regarding swimmer progress or concerns. Help reinforce team expectations, rules, and sportsmanship. Provide encouragement and constructive feedback in a supportive manner. What You'll Bring Experience Interest in aquatics, coaching, or working with youth. Must be at least 17 years old (depending on preference) with the ability to support and motivate swimmers. Certifications Must possess or be willing to obtain the following American Red Cross certifications : Lifeguard Training (LG) CPR for the Professional Rescuer Essential Skills Positive attitude and willingness to learn. Ability to work well as part of a team. Strong communication skills with children, teens, and adults. Ability to remain calm and respond appropriately in stressful situations. Dependability and professionalism. Language Must be proficient in English. Physical DemandsAdditional Requirements Ability to stand for extended periods, swim, and assist participants in the water. Must meet attendance and punctuality expectations, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and some holidays. Must follow all city policies and procedures. Ability to maintain positive working relationships with staff and participants.
