Raider Team Coach
Blacksburg High School
Montgomery County Public Schools in Virginia has an opening and is accepting applications for a Corps of Cadets Raider Team Coach that is available for the 2026-2027 school year at Blacksburg High School.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Under the direction of the Corps of Cadets teacher and building administrator, the coach must plan and implement a high quality raider team that stresses fundamentals, teamwork, and sportsmanship while maintaining high safety standards for all students. The coach must also be committed to high academic standards for all students by monitoring the academic performance of team members to ensure that eligibility requirements are met.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent
Must be age 21 or older
Successful completion of the Virginia High School League (VHSL) required courses accessible at https://www.vhsl.org/coach-education/
Ability to communicate effectively with parents, students, and school administrators
Ability to motivate students
Ability to be dependable and punctual
Regular and predictable on-site attendance is required
Experience in fostering an inclusive learning environment
Such alternatives as may be found appropriate and acceptable
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience as a coach or participation in raider team competitions at the high school or collegiate level
Current CPR certification
Experience serving in a branch of the military
