Job Description

Position Overview The Lead Youth Sports Instructor plays a key role in ensuring UA classes run smoothly, safely, and with high energy. This role supports coaches, leads class plans, assists with scheduling, and helps coordinate clubs and sports programs across partner schools. Leadership Presence with Staff and Coaches The Lead Youth Sports Instructor is expected to demonstrate a consistent, reliable leadership presence across all programs. This includes modeling professionalism, supporting coaches in real time, and ensuring every class reflects UA standards for safety, engagement, and instructional quality. Core Leadership Expectations Model Professional Standards — Set the tone for coaches by demonstrating strong communication, punctuality, and positive classroom management. Provide On‑Site Guidance — Offer real‑time support during classes, helping instructors adjust pacing, transitions, and engagement strategies. Maintain Team Alignment — Ensure coaches understand weekly plans, expectations, and any updates from Unity Active leadership. Support Skill Development — Give constructive feedback, help coaches strengthen their instruction, and reinforce UA coaching standards. Serve as Point of Contact — Act as the lead representative for UA at partner schools, maintaining clear communication with directors and staff. Uphold Program Quality — Ensure every class meets Unity Active's expectations for safety, structure, and student experience. Key Responsibilities Coach Support — Mentor and assist instructors during classes; provide guidance on behavior management, pacing, and instructional quality. Class Planning — Lead weekly lesson planning for sports programs (basketball, soccer, tennis, fitness, tumbling and more); ensure plans are age‑appropriate and aligned with UA standards. Scheduling Assistance — Support coordination of weekly program schedules, instructor assignments, and site coverage. Program Coordination — Help organize clubs and sports offerings across schools; ensure equipment, rosters, and attendance systems are accurate and prepared. On‑Site Leadership — Serve as point of contact during classes; uphold safety, professionalism, and positive communication with school partners. Quality Assurance — Maintain Unity Active's standards for instruction, engagement, and classroom management. Qualifications Experience working with children in sports, coaching, or youth programming Experience working in a dynamic environment and adaptable under changing demands Strong communication and leadership skills Ability to manage multiple tasks and support instructors across sites Reliable, punctual, and comfortable leading groups CPR/First Aid certification required (or willingness to obtain) Schedule & Compensation Part‑time (10-15 hours a week) Competitive hourly pay based on experience Opportunities for expanded responsibilities About Unity Active Unity Active delivers high‑quality enrichment programs to schools and families across the DMV. Pay:
