Head Coach

Job Overview We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Coach to foster a positive environment for student athletes. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a background in water polo, and the ability to engage with students effectively. This role requires a commitment to developing athletes' skills while promoting teamwork, discipline, and personal growth. Will need to complete a background check, register and complete training via nationally recognized water polo organization.

Location:

City of Virginia Beach (Pool sites: Virginia Beach Parks and Recreation pools)

Season:

Fall 2026 (August, September, & October) Responsibilities Head coach of a water polo team (athletes of high school age). Conduct regular practices and drills two days a week to enhance athletes' performance and skills. Monitor the progress of individual athletes and provide constructive feedback. Foster a supportive and inclusive team environment that encourages participation from all skill levels. Manage game day operations including strategy planning, player selection, substitutions, as a backup collect statistics and behavior management during competitions. Collaborate with other coaches and staff to ensure a cohesive approach to athlete development. Organize and oversee practices and games. Maintain communication with parents regarding athlete progress and program updates via online platform.

Availability:

Ability to commit to scheduled practice times (evenings between 6-8pm) and some Saturdays. Experience Previous experience with water polo desired. Experience sports coaching is desired. Lifeguard experience is a plus for aquatic programs. Experience working with students or children in educational setting desired. Strong behavior management skills to effectively address challenges that may arise during training and competition. A passion for promoting health and fitness within the community through engaging sports programs.
