To Be Determined Job Description Proctor High School Varsity Softball Coach- Proctor High School is seeking a passionate, dedicated, and leadership-driven Varsity Softball Head Coach for the upcoming season. The ideal candidate will possess a deep knowledge of the game, a commitment to player development, and the ability to foster a positive, competitive, and respectful team culture. As Head Coach, you will be responsible for the overall supervision and administration of the Varsity Softball program, ensuring compliance with Vermont Principals' Association (VPA) guidelines and Proctor High School athletic policies. Key Responsibilities •
Team Leadership:
Plan, organize, and execute daily practices and game strategies that promote skill development, teamwork, and sportsmanship. •
Student-Athlete Development:
Mentor student-athletes, prioritizing their academic success, physical fitness, and personal growth. •
Program Management:
Oversee equipment inventory, uniform distribution/collection, and assist the Athletic Director with game scheduling and transportation logistics. •
Safety & Compliance:
Ensure student safety at all times during practices, games, and travel. Maintain knowledge of and adhere to all VPA rules and school policies. •
Communication:
Maintain clear, professional, and timely communication with players, parents, assistant coaches, opponents, and school administration. Qualifications & Requirements •
Experience:
Prior coaching experience at the high school, club, or collegiate level is strongly preferred. Experience playing competitive softball is a plus. •
Knowledge:
Deep understanding of softball mechanics, rules, and modern strategic play. •
Certifications:
Candidates must possess (or be willing to obtain before the start of the season): ○ NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching certification ○ First Aid/CPR/AED certification ○ NFHS Concussion in Sports certification •
Background Check:
Successful completion of a criminal background check and fingerprinting is required.
