Role Description This is a part-time, non-paid Assistant Coach role based on-site at Eastern Washington University in Cheney, WA. The Assistant Coach will support the head coach and coaching staff with daily practice planning, skill development drills, and on-field or on-court instruction. Responsibilities may include assisting with game-day preparation, managing equipment, helping coordinate travel or logistics, and providing guidance to student-athletes on academic and personal development within university and NCAA guidelines. The role may also involve video breakdown, basic scouting support, and maintaining a positive, inclusive team culture. The Assistant Coach is expected to model professionalism, uphold program values, and collaborate closely with staff and administrators. Qualifications Coaching and sport-specific instructional skills, including the ability to teach fundamentals, support player development, and assist with practice and game management. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with student-athletes, coaching staff, and university personnel in a respectful, inclusive manner. Organizational and time-management abilities to handle equipment, schedules, and administrative tasks while meeting team and academic timelines. Commitment to NCAA and university compliance standards, student-athlete well-being, and maintaining a safe, supportive team environment. Previous playing or coaching experience at the high school, club, or collegiate level is preferred. Ability to work on-site in Cheney, WA, including evenings and weekends as required by team activities. Demonstrated professionalism, integrity, and interest in mentoring and supporting diverse student-athlete populations. Bachelor's degree or progress toward a degree in a related field (such as education, kinesiology, sports management, or a relevant discipline) is beneficial.
