Job Description
LMS Assistant Football Coach
Reports to: Principal / Athletic Director
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Must pass fingerprinting/background check that meets required state, federal and Clarkston School District standards
Must hold a current and valid First Aid and CPR card, OR be able to obtain them prior to working with athletes
Must be at least 19 years of age for Assistant Coaching Positions and at least 21 years of age for Head Coaching Positions pursuant to WIAA regulations
Must complete WIAA required training
Must complete onboarding paperwork and SafeSchools training prior to working with athletes
Be available for all practices and competitions from 3 p.m. daily during their coaching season with availability on weekends as required
Prior coaching experience preferred
General Functions:
Supports Lincoln Middle School in all of its athletic programs and demonstrates a commitment to strengthening relations within the educational system, as well as the coaching profession
Demonstrates loyalty and supports the head coach in conducting the athletic program of that particular sport
Knowledgeable and aware of rules and regulations concerning his/her sport
Assumes any duties assigned to him/her by the head coach pertaining to the overall athletic program of that particular sport and assumes the responsibilities of the head coach in the absence of the head coach
Assists and is accountable to the head coach, athletic director, and principal
Accompanies and directs the assigned team to all games and practices
Holds a current first aid and CPR card
Keeps current on all clock hours depending on coaching level
Exemplifies good sportsmanship and is held to the same sportsmanship expectations as the head coach
Essential Functions:
Supervises and instructs students in the fundamentals of the sport he/she is coaching
Maintains facilities and equipment
Supervises team players at practice, games, in locker room and during travel
Promotes sportsmanship and fair play among all teams and players by always setting a good example for participants and fans to follow, instructs participants in proper sportsmanship responsibilities, makes sportsmanship a high priority, respects the judgment of contest officials, abides by rules of the event.
