Job Description

Woodland High School - Head Baseball Coach We appreciate your interest in employment with Woodland Public Schools. All applications are considered and reviewed. Job Summary:
This position is responsible for coaching and providing direction to student-athletes so that the might achieve a high level of skill as well as an appreciation for discipline, sportsmanship, and teamwork. To value and promote the worth of each participant while effectively leading players and staff to achieve their individual and collective potential. In addition, our head coach is expected to foster the development of our athletic program throughout our educational and local community. The work assists the superintendent toward the accomplishment of the mission of the Woodland Public Schools of preparing students for career, life, and college so that they can become a responsible and compassionate citizen. Work is performed under the direction of the Principal and Athletic Director.
Qualifications:
Twenty-one years old Must pass a background check Current Red Cross First Aid/CPR Card Previous coaching experience Must take WIAA online courses and complete WSD head coach checklists Must be current with WIAA coaching clock hours Be able to pass a screening test to provide transportation for student-athletes Regular and punctual attendance to carry out the duties and responsibilities of the position to achieve program requirements Bilingual preferred

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Become familiar with and promote the core values of the school's Athletic Program Serve as a positive role model for students Responsible for planning, organizing, and delivering an appropriate range of sports activities and programming for the team Plan, organize, and carry out all practices Assist with sports promotion and development Effectively manage a program and staff Provide oversight and assist with game day preparation Responsible for working with the Athletic Director with scheduling of the following: Game schedules Practice Transportation Meal arrangements Ensure that student-athletes adhere to training rules, lettering policies, grade requirements, and rules of behavior Ensure the continual supervision of student-athletes on the field, in conditioning, and in locker and shower rooms Ensure that health and safety precautions are observed during all activities Immediately report all major injuries incurred during practice sessions or competition to the Athletic Director and Principal. Train assistant coaches in techniques, skills, philosophy, rules, and strategies Perform other tasks and assume other responsibilities as assigned by supervisor

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision such as to read handwritten or typed material, and the ability to adjust focus. The position requires the individual to meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the public and other staff.
Work Environment:
The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud. Work is predominantly in athletic rooms and outside on athletic field(s). Temperature normal climate, occasional adverse weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud. Retention of this head coaching position will be determined annually following the postseason evaluation with the district athletic director.
