Full Job Description Position:
Trixters Gymnastics Coach (Part-Time)
About Us:
Trixters Gymnastics is operated through the West Allis West Milwaukee Recreation Department and offers families an affordable and non-competitive entry into the sport of gymnastics. Our team offers students a way to explore sports in a low stakes environment and focuses on teaching physical literacy that will set athletes up for success for more competitive programs upon graduation from Trixters gymnastics.
Summary:
Gymnastics coaches work with a small group of students and lead them through warm ups, drills, and skills on all four gymnastics apparatus (floor, vault, beam, and bars). They provide support for each student to grow as an athlete through verbal cues and hands on spotting techniques. Coaches work with students to prepare them for the end of session showcase by teaching students routines and support students during the showcase by rotating with their teams and spotting them on difficult skills during their routines.
Qualifications:
Ability to lift and support 100 lbs Passion for working with children Ability to learn new skills and adapt to challenges Knowledge and/or experience within youth sports either as a student or a staff member Preferred Qualifications (not required): Experience with gymnastics either as a student or a staff member CPR / FirstAid / AED certifications
Responsibilities:
Leading a group of up to 10 students through warm ups, drills, and skills on floor, vault, beam, and bars Providing verbal cues and hands on spots for basic gymnastics skills Providing support to gymnasts during the end of session showcase performances Performing skill evaluations to track students progress Meet with other coaches and the program coordinator to share ideas and thoughts about the Trixters program
Schedule:
Trixters teams meet weekly on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30pm - 8:10pm. Our current fall session runs until April 26
