Job Description

POSITION

Assistant Wrestling Coach

LOCATION

Musselman High

QUALIFICATIONS

Candidates must possess or be eligible for West Virginia Teacher Certification; or, possess or have the ability to obtain the WV Coaching Authorization (High School Diploma or GED Required), prior to the start of the season. This includes successful completion of a three-day

ASEP / WVSSAC

certification training class, with three online exams, followed by four

NFHS / WVSSAC

online courses, with online exams and required Safeschools trainings.

ACCOUNTABLE TO

Head Coach/ Principal/ Athletic Director

FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES

Responsible for assisting in the administration of the designated sports program

Assist in the development of team philosophies and responsibilites

Supervision of players Inventory of all equipment

Work with head coach and athletic director/principal on program budget

Maintenance of fields and facilities input

Prepare practice/game plans

Supervise an off-season strength and conditioning program

Assist in program to follow player academic progress

Care of injuries

Develop positive relationship with players, parents, students, coaches, band, faculty, officials, media, and the community

Be knowledgeable of all WVSSAC rules and strictly adhere to the same

Attend required WVSSAC clinics

Assist in organizing supplemental funding activities to support the program

Cooperate in supervision and evaluation of coach(es) Partcicipate in staff development opportunities for assistant coaches

Participate in the school's Sportsmanship Program and Scholar/Athlete Program

Cooperate with athletic director/principal, head coach, and fellow coaches and students to promote the best interested of the entire athetic program

Communicate effectively with head coach, athletic director and/or prinicpalregarding all operations and activities. Perform additional, reasonable, job-related responsibilities as assigned by the head coach, athletic director and/or building principal

COMPENSATION

Pay based on approved BCS Coaching Stipend Schedule

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision such as to read handwritten or typed material, the ability to adjust focus. The position requires the individual to meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the public and other staff members.
