Assistant Professor Department of Communication and Media (9-month appointment, Tenure Track) September 2, 2026 Samford University's Howard College of Arts and Sciences invites individuals interested in serving ina Christian University environment to apply for an Assistant Professor position in the Department of Communication and Media. This full-timetenure track position is a 9-month appointment and carries a twenty-four (24) credit-hour teaching load. The position will begin in August2027. Qualified candidates will hold a Ph. D. or be ABD, near completion, in communication studies or a closely related field froman institutionally accredited college or university (or equivalent). Candidates with the ability to teach courses in interpersonalcommunication, quantitative research methods, and organizational communication are preferred. Successful candidates should have an activeresearch agenda and demonstrated excellence in teaching, with at least three years of college teaching at the undergraduate level.

Candidates may also be asked to participate in Samford's general education program. ABD candidates will be considered at the rank ofInstructor, with commensurate salary, until Ph. D. is completed. The Department of Communication and Media is home to Samford'saward-winning student media and hosts an annual speaker forum (Robinson Forum - a lecture series in cooperation with The Washington Post).
