Job Description

The Department of Mathematics at the University of North Alabama invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor of Mathematics beginning August 2027. Applicants must hold a PhD in mathematics, statistics, mathematics education, or a related field by August 2027. Candidates with the ability to strengthen and expand our undergraduate and graduate offerings in statistics and actuarial science will receive priority. Review of applications will begin on October 30, 2026, and continue until the position has been filled. Sponsorship is not available for this position. Salary is commensurate with degree and experience. The University of North Alabama Department of Mathematics offers BA, BS, and MS degrees in Mathematics.

Teaching responsibilities will include undergraduate mathematics and statistics courses ranging from beginning to advanced levels as well as online graduate mathematics courses. The regular teaching load is 12 credit hours per semester. The primary responsibility of this position is high-quality instruction in both in-person and online formats.

Applicants must hold a PhD in mathematics, statistics, mathematics education, or a related field by August 2027. Applicants must demonstrate a strong commitment to excellence in teaching, including effective engagement both in-person and online; maintain an active program of scholarly activity, including potential involvement with undergraduate or graduate students; be willing to take an active role in curriculum development and program assessment; be familiar with current trends in mathematics education, including the use of instructional technology; and be willing to work as a collegial team member as well as a community resource when appropriate. Additional responsibilities include student recruitment and service on departmental and University committees. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with faculty and contribute to a positive learning environment.
