Position Number TBD Salary Commensurate with experience FLSA Exempt Employment Status Full Time 9 Mos Regular Appointment Type Full-time Tenure Track General Description The University of Montevallo invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Counseling position specializing in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. This faculty member will contribute to our CACREP-accredited program by teaching, supervising, conducting research, and engaging in service to the university and profession. Essential Job Duties Teach graduate-level courses in core CACREP and Clinical Mental Health Counseling specialization areas.

• Provide academic advising to graduate students.
• Supervise graduate student field placements (practicum/internship).
• Maintain an independent research agenda and engage in scholarly activities (e.g., publish in peer-reviewed journals, deliver professional presentations).
• Engage in professional counseling organizations and demonstrate active professional identity (e.g., ACA, AMHCA, ALCA).
• Actively recruit graduate students and contribute to program growth.
• Serve on university, college, and department committees and contribute to the broader counseling community. Additional Duties Education and Experience Doctorate in Counselor Education from a CACREP-accredited program (or related doctoral degree with one full-time faculty year before July 1, 2013).
• University-level teaching experience in counseling.
• Education and clinical experience in Clinical Mental Health Counseling.
• Active professional engagement, including at least two of the following: Professional development in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Professional service/advocacy in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Ongoing clinical practice. Research/scholarly activity in Clinical Mental Health Counseling.
• Professional counseling identity demonstrated through: o Membership in national and state counseling organizations (e.

g., ACA, AMHCA, ALCA). Relevant professional credentials (e.g., LPC, NCC). Preferred Education and Experience Established research agenda in counselor education. Experience in securing external funding for academic research. Demonstrated leadership in graduate counseling education. Licenses, Certification or Registrations Candidates must hold or be eligible for counseling licensure as an LPC in Alabama within 18 months of hire.
